The Slump Cone Tamping Rod is used in conjunction with the Slump Cone which is designed to measure the workability of concrete.

This is carried out by filling the slump cone with fresh concrete in three layers, tamping each one and levelling to the top of the cone.

The slump cone is then removed and the distance the concrete falls or slump, is measured with the rule.
